Block Storage stores data in fixed-size blocks of pre-determined arrays and assigns directly to servers. This highly available storage service is suitable for application environments that require high capacity data, such as database and email servers. High performance storage is available depending on the required level of performance. Backup policy with redundancy and failure recovery system enable reliable service without any data losses.

Features

  1. Large Volume Storage

    The basic OS space provides 100 GB of volume. Virtual Server can be created or expanded online up to 168TB, and Bare Metal Server can scale in large capacities without volume limitations.

  2. Full SSD-based High Performance IOPS

    Block Storage includes redundant controller and disk array RAID to ensure high durability and availability. For mission-critical application workload that requires short response time and high IOPS, optimized high-performance SSD-type storage is also provided.

  3. Snapshot-based Backup

    Block storage offers image snapshot for OS and data area of VM and LUN(Logical Unit Number) snapshot function of BM. Recovery to a particular time using previously-created snapshots is possible in case of change or deletion of data.

  4. DR Replication of Critical Data

    DR replication replicates the original Block Storage(BM) to another region of Samsung Cloud Platform. This allows the DR storage to provide data in situations where the original storage becomes unavailable such as a system failure or a natural disaster. (Additional network charges for data replication)

Pricing Standard

  • Block Storage is offered free of charge up to 100GB for basic Compute OS.
  • A monthly rate is charged according to assigned storage for usage of 1 month (first to last day of each month). For mid-month application/cancellation, the rate is calculated pro rata.
  • When configuring DR replication and backup, users pay for what they use. Data transfer charges between regions will be charged separately.
  • Additional discount rates are applied for the month with usage of more than 50,000GB.
  • The criteria for the discount section is based on the applicable server unit capacity, but if it is allocated to the following products, it will be applied based on the cluster unit total capacity.

E.g. Once a SSD storage space of 100TB (102,400GB) has been allocated, KRW 120 per GB will be charged for storage up to the first 50,000GB. Any usage past the 50,000GB mark will be eligible for a 10% discount from the monthly fee, and usage past the 100,000GB mark will be eligible for a 20% discount. The estimated monthly cost is KRW 11,630,400.
E.g. After using 500 GB of SSD storage and configuring corresponding Volume DR replication, there will be a monthly fee for standard region usage (KRW 120*500GB), monthly fee for DR region usage (KRW 120*500GB), data transfer fee between regions (KRW 10*500GB), putting the total at KRW 125,000.
